Celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage At St. Mary of the Lake.

Future Bride & Groom:

Congratulations!

We, here at St. Mary of the Lake, are glad that you have chosen to celebrate your wedding in the Catholic Church according to your faith within the sacrament of Marriage. We (priests, deacons, secretaries, musicians, cleaning crew and snow removers) will work with you to do everything necessary to make this happen. There are many things to do, and you have a lot of work ahead of you.

Here at St. Mary of the Lake we like involvement in the ceremony by as many people as possible. Not only can people read the readings, but can assist as ushers, servers and Eucharistic Ministers (if they have already been prepared for this ministry). We ask you to remember that movies and television programs do not accurately depict the Catholic wedding ceremony. There are slight differences from parish to parish (usually because of the way the buildings are physically set up) and what you saw at a friend’s ceremony may not happen here. When planning how the ceremony will go, please keep in mind that what you do (your actions) during the ceremony say something to people present who are watching. We all need to be mindful of what we ‘say’ to people through our actions. Please read through all of the information in this packet; it provides a good outline of all that is involved. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact one of us.

In Christ,

Fr. Jim Kastigar, Deacon Paul Spalla, Deacon Ubaldo Muñoz
